Recently, Super Junior held its final encore show at the KSPO Dome over the weekend.

However, during the show, an accident occurred after Ryeowook reached out to touch fans’ hands, causing the barricade to break and fans to fall to the ground.

Following the show, official accounts released statements regarding the incident.

Most recently, Ryeowook personally addressed the issue in a long post on Instagram.

“Hello, this is Ryeowook. First, I wanted to explain to ELFs what happened recently. As soon as the incident occurred, I felt so much self-blame for the fans who were injured. I thought the fans had been hurt because of me and wondered if it was because I had gotten too close to them. Couldn’t I have somehow managed to catch them when they fell? Overwhelmed by so much regret and shock, my thought process came to a halt temporarily.

I’m not someone whose mind processes things quickly, so I felt so foolish for freezing up for a moment because of the shock. I apologize if that left a bad impression. However, I am grateful for the countless ELFs who know me well and explained the situation.

I had many conversations with the ELFs who were injured at the hospital. I don’t think I will ever forget how they worried about me while in pain and how they cried, saying they were even more sorry than I was.

Even though we have been active for over 20 years since our debut, this is the first time I have witnessed an accident like this right before my eyes, so honestly, it was really hard on me. I am so grateful that no one was seriously hurt. Thank you to ELFs for worrying and comforting us.

Above all, since we have to keep meeting each other in the future, we will work hard to become a Super Junior that is even more careful and attentive to safety. Let’s meet for a long time without anyone getting hurt.”

With this, fans left messages of support, letting him know that it wasn’t his fault.
