Reasons to watch: Love is all Han Ji-min needs in the new JTBC weekend drama, The Practical Guide to Love. Adapted from a webtoon, Han Ji-min plays a career woman who is well-respected by colleagues and lacks nothing professionally. Her personal life is another story entirely. Though she’s looking for love, she wants it to happen organically and can’t stand the thought of dating via contrived methods like apps or blind dates. But frustration with her loveless love life reaches a boiling point and she makes the leap into blind dating.
Much to her surprise, she meets not one, but two men who make her swoon. Park Sung-hoon is responsible and considerate, while Lee Ki-taek is a free spirit yet dependable. Han Ji-min finds herself pulled in two directions as she spends time with them, and as she tries to sort her heart out, she asks herself what she’s truly looking for in love.
There’s not a ton happening in terms of plot, but this is a great cast, and I can’t wait to watch Han Ji-min’s misadventures in dating. I have a nagging feeling that viewers will be just as torn as our lead when it comes to choosing which ship to board. (I’m steeling myself for a bad case of Second Lead Syndrome.)
