Actress Kang Ye Won has opened up about her frustrations over constantly being associated with plastic surgery rather than her acting career. On a recent episode of her YouTube channel, Kang Ye Won sat down with comedian Lee Se Young for a candid discussion about cosmetic procedures, appearance changes, and public perception.
During the conversation, Kang Ye Won admitted that she often feels disappointed by the type of attention she receives online.
“I’m an actress. I want to be evaluated based on my projects and acting. But at some point, all the articles became about my epicanthoplasty surgery or plastic surgery.”
Lee Se Young, who has also been open about her own cosmetic procedures, sympathized with the actress. The conversation then shifted to Kang Ye Won’s recent epicanthoplasty restoration surgery, which many viewers have noted dramatically changed her appearance.
Kang Ye Won revealed that the transformation has come with an unexpected downside. She laughed while sharing that people often fail to recognize her in public.
“The problem is that nobody recognizes me anymore. I can walk down the street and people don’t recognize me. Even when I came to the filming set today, nobody recognized me.”
Kang Ye Won also explained why she originally underwent inner corner surgery in the first place. According to the actress, a manager once suggested that her Mongolian fold could become distracting on camera during acting projects. But as time passed, she began feeling that her eyes looked increasingly close together.
The discussion eventually led to another surprising confession. While talking about facial changes, Lee Se Young suggested that Kang Ye Won’s nose procedure may have also contributed to the change in her overall appearance. After briefly hesitating, Kang Ye Won admitted that she had done her nose. She also admitted to having multiple surgeries on her eyes.
“I did my nose a little. I’ve had eye surgery several times too. I don’t remember exactly, but I think around six or seven times.”
Despite her openness about cosmetic procedures, Kang Ye Won emphasized that she hopes people will focus more on her work as an actress rather than discussions about her appearance. The actress has previously revealed that she chose to undergo inner corner restoration after seeing older photos of herself and realizing she wanted to return to an image closer to her original look.
