On March 30, the Japanese singer’s agency, Avex Management, confirmed that the 43-year-old singer was expecting her second child and reassured fans that she was in good health. The company also announced that, keeping her well-being in mind, Koda Kumi’s nationwide tour scheduled for June was postponed.
Koda Kumi tied the knot with Kenji03, a member of the band BACK-ON, in 2011. The couple welcomed their first child the following year. With the news of their second pregnancy, 15 years into the marriage, local fans are joyfully congratulating them both. However, Koda’s past remarks about pregnancy have also resurfaced.

In 2008, during her appearance on the radio program All Night Nippon, the singer had harshly remarked that the amniotic fluid starts to “rot” once women cross the age of 35. This remark was criticized as disparaging toward older mothers. The backlash grew so much that the singer had to issue a formal apology later.
Following her recent pregnancy announcement, some have revisited her past comments, wondering whether her views have changed. However, many defended the singer, arguing that bringing up past mistakes during such a joyous moment was overstepping.
