When asked about working with the K-Pop star, Lee Si Woo made it clear that he didn’t see her as an idol, but as Hye On, her character.

Hye On and Jun Seo are childhood friends of 20 years, so their relationship was different from a typical romance. From the start of the drama, it was important that we felt comfortable with each other, and that was our main task. She suggested early on that we speak casually to each other, which helped us relax, and we were able to try new approaches in our acting.
Even in scenes where we’re eating, we tried to show that comfort, like casually pulling out a tissue and tossing it to the other person, or naturally opening the fridge when we’re visiting each other’s homes. The name ‘TWICE’ is huge, of course, but since we met through Love Me, I didn’t see her as an ‘idol-turned-actor.’ I saw her purely as the character.

The actor also praised how unafraid Dahyun was of “taking on challenges” and how well-prepared she came to the set. All in all, it was “enjoyable” co-starring with the idol, he said.

There were many moments that surprised me. Her eyes are especially expressive when she acts, and she didn’t seem afraid of taking on challenges. She came to set having prepared a variety of acting choices, which made filming even more enjoyable for me.

Love Me concluded its dozen-episode run with modest viewership ratings in the 1% range. Yet for TWICE’s Dahyun, making her K-Drama debut through the series served as a strong stepping stone, laying the groundwork for a promising acting career.
