Hello Beanies, long time no see. Thought I’d pop back in with a quick story or two I wanted to share.
A few weeks ago on the streets of Tokyo, a disconcertingly handsome man in a silken cream suit handed me a paper fan. Confused, I unfolded it to find IU and Byeon Woo-seok (in a cream suit, natch) printed on it. Ha. A promotional event for Perfect Crown.
I’ve since come home and caught up on the drama. It’s, ahem, far from perfect, but it’s a really fun watch best enjoyed with a few critical-thinking skills switched off. And with that Episode 6 ending, the IU–BWS fan sure came in handy. Squee.
The trip also had a little c-drama connection. At an exhibition, we saw two swooping brown pheasant feathers on a samurai helmet. Yup, just like Pursuit of Jade. I highly doubt the battle-scarred samurai would have had quite the same swoony effect as ZLH in Pursuit of Jade, but it was a small squee of recognition all the same.
And sadly, the hot springs at our ryokan at the base of Mt Fuji weren’t quite The Hot Spot for aliens as we’d hoped. Still, we came away as rejuvenated as Takahashi after a long soak.
