When musicians debut, they sometimes take on gimmicks to gain public attention, with mixed success. For example, Orange Caramel are known for their bizarre concepts, which helped with their popularity and recognition.

On the other hand, some concepts are too strong and have the opposite effect, contributing to their downfall.
This happened with a K-Pop duo back in the 90s, who, despite their talent and song’s popularity, did not last very long in the industry.
Hush
In 1999, the company Donga Planning formed the female duo Hush, consisting of Jo Sua and Kim Eeljin. The pair made their official debut in November 1999 with a self-titled album featuring a title track of the same name.
The group’s concept right away appeared to be sapphic in nature, with the contents of their album featuring the pair in intimate situations, including nearly kissing and embracing while half naked.
“Hush” and many of the album’s tracks were popular with the general public; however, it was their concept that caused difficulties. Korea is a conservative society where LGBT individuals still struggle with acceptance today, and it was only more so over 26 years ago when Hush was active.
Ultimately, Hush disbanded just seven months after their debut.
Both members were college-educated musicians, and Kim Eeljin ended up re-debuting as Iljin. She has released music since and also works as a producer.
