It was then revealed that the idol could face three years in prison.

WINNER’s MINO Could Face Three Years Of Prison In Military Evasion Case Update

Yet, while Korean netizens condemned Mino, international fans were more surprised and some, shocked at the possible prison time. While they understood what Mino did was wrong, many pointed out that he was initially exempt from service but chose to do it, while others compared the three years he could be given compared to other criminals.

the idea that mino will be getting double of seungris jail sentence & the same amount as taeil just for skipping military (mino was already exempt from military but chose to sign up for a role anywyas)

Mino lost his father before military service began and had struggled with bipolar and anxiety. No it’s not an excuse, but I think these things went untreated or not seriously attended to like they should have. I think that may have been why he “skipped”. I just think he wasn’t…

How does he have the same sentence as that rapists

    — 𝙛𝙡𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙚 : vanished ♡ (@michicmd) February 12, 2026

Basically in Korea skipping 102 days of military service gives you a sentence equal to that of raping a woman. What a fucking joke.

i’m not supporting his offense even as his long term fan but seeking 3 years in prison for skipping public military service when rapists in that country get same amount or sometimes even less is just fucking insane. Korea really holds these two offenses on the same level…insane https://t.co/PHpF63JGsx

… potentially 3 years for a missed service he wasn’t even supposed to be doing in the first place.. he was wrong for enlisting and messing it up when he was qualified for the exemption but the sentence is very disproportionate compared to crimes with real victims eg sex crimes https://t.co/6y5wv2QPfe

mind you fuckass choi junghoon got 2 years in prison for gang rape and then you’re going to jail for longer term for skipping public service. Korea is not a real country https://t.co/PHpF63JGsx

The topics of enlistment and prison sentences in Korea continue to be debated among international fans.
