Former Apink member Hong Yookyung has shared an exciting update on her pregnancy, revealing the gender of her first child.
On June 21, Hong Yoo Kyung took to social media to announce the results of her recent gender reveal.
“Dangdangie’s gender is… It’s a boy.”
The former idol explained that many people around her had predicted she would be having a daughter. Hong Yoo Kyung also revealed that the gender reveal was a complete surprise for everyone involved. According to her, most of the younger children in her family are already boys, leading relatives to assume a girl would finally arrive this time.
“A lot of people guessed it would be a girl, but I’m becoming a boy mom. It was a surprise gender reveal for everyone, and since all the nieces and nephews around us are boys, everyone expected that maybe it was finally time for a girl.
So as soon as they saw the blue color, everyone had a rather bewildered reaction.(Hopefully the second child will be a girl…) Now Dangdang is already starting to make their presence known even on ultrasound scans…!! I think I’m slowly starting to feel little wiggles and fetal movements in my belly too. Grow up healthy and let’s meet soon, Dangdang.”
The update comes just weeks after Hong Yookyung announced that she was 16 weeks pregnant. Fans were delighted to receive another glimpse into her pregnancy journey and flooded her posts with congratulatory messages.
Hong Yoo Kyung debuted as a member of Apink in 2011 before leaving the group in 2013 to focus on her studies. In 2023, she married a dermatologist, and she is currently preparing to welcome her first child.
