Billlie‘s Tsuki revealed the surprising reason her Korean skills improved so quickly. On the March 6 broadcast of I Live Alone, Tsuki appeared as the star of the latest “Rainbow Live” segment, giving viewers a glimpse into her daily life.
Now in her 10th year living in Korea and second year living alone, Tsuki shared her routine which starts with light exercise before studying Korean by watching Korean films. Whenever she encountered a word she didn’t know, she paused the movie, looked up the meaning using a translator, and took time to memorize the vocabulary.
Tsuki is already known for her strong Korean skills and frequently appears on variety shows. However, she revealed that her language learning method when she first arrived in Korea was much more intense than fans expected. She cut contact with her family to avoid using Japanese.
“When I first came to Korea, I stopped contacting my parents for about six months. I memorized 30 vocabulary words a day and tested myself.”
Tsuki, who moved to Korea at 12 years old, explained that the strict method helped her quickly gain confidence in everyday conversations.
“After about six months, it became comfortable for me to have daily conversations, so I contacted my parents again.”
I Live Alone is a popular MBC variety program that follows celebrities living by themselves, reflecting the growing number of single-person households.
