A Korean actor has been accused of investment-related fraud and document forgery, with the accuser claiming damages amounting to ₩490 million KRW (about $369,000 USD).
According to a report by Hankook Ilbo on October 21st, Ahn Yong Joon was accused of fraud, forgery of private documents, use of forged documents, and signature forgery by complainant A at the Busan Haeundae Police Station on the same day.
The report states that A, who had known Ahn for a long time, was asked by Ahn to translate a performance contract and invested in a business proposed by Ahn, after which problems arose.
The accuser’s side claims that Ahn presented exclusive contracts bearing the names of famous actors and proposed investment in businesses such as performances, fan meetings, and album production, promising to share profits. The complaint claims the names, signatures, and seals on the contract were forged.
The accusation also includes claims that Ahn stated he signed contracts with major entertainment agencies and album producers, but in reality, no such contracts existed. The accuser alleges that the invoice presented as proof of repayment funds was also a forged document.
The total damages claimed by the accuser are approximately ₩490 million KRW (about $369,000 USD). However, this includes not only unrecovered investments but also amounts A claims to be demanded by third parties, meaning the entire sum was not directly invested by A to Ahn.
A’s legal representative, lawyer Shim, said, “There may be others who suffered damages,” asking the investigators to verify if there are additional victims. Alongside the criminal complaint, a civil lawsuit for damages and provisional seizure of claims are also underway.
Ahn’s former agency also released a statement. Currently, Ahn’s exclusive contract with Creamate Media has ended. A former agency official told Hankook Ilbo by phone, “I am also a victim and will soon file a complaint.”
This case was brought based on the accuser’s claims, and specific charges and facts will be confirmed through investigation.
Ahn Yong Joon was a short-track skater until middle school and debuted in the entertainment industry in 2006. He gained recognition playing Jumong’s son in the drama Jumong and appeared in various works including Rounding Off 3, Quiz of God, Capital Scandal, and Jeon Woochi : The Taoist Wizard.
