ENHYPEN’s Heeseung is facing strong backlash online following the announcement of his decision to leave the group. Recently, Heeseung shared a message with fans explaining that he had made a major decision about his future after long discussions with the company. The company announced that he would remain with them as a solo artist, but would not be promoting with the group any more.
Through a handwritten letter, Heeseung explained that he had been working on personal projects for some time and had long hoped to share them with fans. After extensive conversations with the company about how to present his work, he said he ultimately decided to follow the direction suggested by the company so that he could return to fans with a better side of himself.
Due to his explanation, the news quickly sparked strong reactions online. Many wondered why he was unable to release solo music while being with the group and how he would be able to promote as a soloist in the same company.

No, I can accept that he’s leaving, but why is he promoting as a soloist in the same company? Won’t he find it uncomfortable if he runs into them? I’d feel so sorry if I were him. It’s insane. They’ll run into each other at music shows, awards shows, and more.

They were also upset as just up to a few months or even weeks ago, he was promising a long future with fans and the group. He previously asked fans to “stay with him forever” during a performance.

I knew Lee Heeseung would do this. But that’s so unethical of him. There’s just a year and a half left to the end of their 7 year contract. He couldn’t even bear that and just left? I knew he was an avoidant b*stard with no sense of responsibility. It’s so funny because this isn’t even surprising when we know that he said he couldn’t be the leader and passed the responsibility to a kid that’s 18 years old only, and how he’s always so overwhelmed with the members. But he’s suddenly quitting when all the schedules and concerts are lined up. Crazy b*stard.
