Jung Yi-chan attempts to save Baek Seo-ra as Doctor Shin

If you ever watched a medical drama and thought to yourself, “these doctors are way too realistic,” then look no further! TV Chosun has the perfect show for you. From the hit makjang writer Phoebe (Durian’s Affair, Love (ft. Marriage & Divorce) III) — more famously known for her other pen name Im Sung-han (read this great piece by javabeans if you’re unaware of her history) — comes the new medical thriller Doctor Shin.
Leading this ensemble cast is Jung Yi-chan (Love Song for Illusion) as the titular Dr. Shin Ju-shin. Not only is he a hospital director, but he is also the leading expert in neurosurgery. The trailer opens to Ju-shin performing an operation while top actress Momo, played by Baek Seo-ra, gets into a scuba diving accident.
The scene then switches over to Joo Se-bin (The Empire) as the chainsaw-wielding reporter Geum Ba-ra. She accuses someone of turning her into a monster, and the camera zooms in on Ju-shin.
Ba-ra then meets with her childhood crush Ha Yong-joong, played by Ahn Woo-yeon (I Dol I), and the brief flashback is all kinds of creepy given their six-year age gap (visually, it looks larger than that). As the trailer skips between scenes, haphazardly stitching them together sans transitions or reason, we see Momo’s mother Song Ji-in (Concrete Market) asks Ju-shin about swapping brains and offers herself for the procedure.
The trailer then ends with a montage of Ju-shin with Momo as he says that love does not change. He tells her that she has to stay by his side forever, which definitely sounds more disturbing than romantic, especially given the context.
Behind the camera, PD Lee Seung-hoon (Love (ft. Marriage & Divorce) II) teams up with writer Phoebe once again for this sixteen-episode medical-thriller which premieres March 14 in the Saturday-Sunday slot.
