Journeying to the countryside hills, SBS’s Sold Out on You (previously, Sold Out Again Today) is setting up shop, with Ahn Hyo-seop (A Time Called You) and Chae Won-bin (Who Is She) leading the first script reading stills.
The rom-com takes us down the winding lane to Deok-poong Village, where we meet farmer Matthew Lee (Ahn Hyo-seop). Our bristly bumpkin hero is known more familiarly, though, by the locals as ‟Mechuri” – the similar-sounding Korean word for ‟quail.”
But Matthew’s content and orderly life is about to be upturned, of course, when Dam Ye-jin (Chae Won-bin) rolls into town. She’s a popular show host on the home shopping network, snagging record sales on the channel with her silver-tongued and dogged charisma.
In the second lead roles, we have Kim Bum (Tale of the Nine Tailed 1938) entering the story as the also suave Eric Seo, who is always honest about he feels. He works as the executive director at a cosmetics company and unless he’s getting his own loveline, we may have a love triangle in the works.
We’ll also be seeing veteran actor Go Du-shim (Check In Hanyang) taking charge as the unofficial head of Deok-poong Village. And she’ll be affectionately offering potatoes instead of ramen as her trademark, granny (and platonic) flirting charm.
Supporting cast includes Ye-jin’s work colleague Yoon Jae-chan (Siren’s Kiss), dessert café owner Jo Woo-ri (Love.exe), and secretary Eun Sun-woo (Men Are Men) among others as well.
Broadcasting in SBS’s Wednesday-Thursday slot, Sold Out on You is slated to premiere on April 22 next month. Expected to stream internationally on Netflix, the 12-episode series has PD Ahn Jong-yeon (Seoul Busters) directing with writing by Jin Seung-hee.
