Reasons to watch: KBS is going country for their new sitcom, Cabbage Your Life. It’s not often that we get a primetime sitcom, and we have Park Sung-woong leading the ensemble cast with Lee Soo-kyung, Lee Seo-hwan, Nam Kwon-ah, Lee Jin-woo, and Choi Gyuri.
Park Sung-woong and Lee Soo-kyung reunite after Dog Knows Everything as a married couple who face new challenges with their family after uprooting their lives and moving to the countryside. It’s a new chapter in the family’s life, and it all starts when Park is assigned to work at a satellite branch of his company. He’d actually volunteered to take the position, but was stunned when he actually got the new assignment since he hadn’t ever expected to actually get sent out to the sticks.
Everything about their new life is an adjustment; not just the rural life, but even living as a family is a change as Park had been on his own in Korea while the kids lived abroad with their mom for school. So on top of learning to be a family unit again, they also have to deal with a whole bunch of very grumpy locals who are tired of dealing with clueless city folk who never last more than a couple of months in the village. Lee Soo-kyung does her best to make the most of the situation for their family, while Park immediately starts brainstorming ways to get transferred back to Seoul. Despite a lot of turbulence, the family starts to reconnect and find joy together.
If you’re looking for a light, family-focused drama this one will offer laughs and lots of fish-out-of-water hijinks. I love the drama title, and I have a residual affection for our leads after Dog Knows Everything so I’ll be watching to see how (or if) the family ever makes it back to the big city.
