    News bites: April 14, 2026

    by tccolb

    Cha Seung-won, Kim Do-hoon

    1. Preparations are well underway for tvN’s Retired Agent Management Team to open office later this year, where ex-black ops Cha Seung-won (Mercy for None) is now the neighborhood car wash owner. But the comedy-action will soon be calling him back to the field and partnering him with frenemy agent Kim Do-hoon (Dear X). Production is being led by PD Jin Chang-kyu (Buried Hearts) as well as A Bloody Lucky Day writers, Song Hanna and Kim Min-sung. [MBC]
    1. Netflix is reportedly working on a new mystery-thriller called Outback (transliterated title), which is said to have Ryu Joon-yeol (The 8 Show) and Hong Kyung (Revenant) reviewing offers to potentially headline the upcoming series. Based on the webtoon G’Day by Choi Yong-sung, the adaptation is currently in the early stages, with PD Jeon Doo-kwan (Scene: A Strange Story) attached to direct. [Ilgan Sports, Star News, YTN]

    1. On Wavve, the countdown is on for the amnesia-ridden Seo Ji-hye (Nice to Not Meet You) to feel her world Reverse as she tries to recover her memory. And she’s showcased next to co-stars Go Soo (Parole Examiner Lee) and Kim Jae-kyung (Grand Shining Hotel) in the new character posters. With both directing and writing led by PD Im Geon-joon, the mystery-romance and revenge tale will be coming to our screens on April 17. [Ilgan Sports]
    2. JTBC is gearing up for We Are All Trying Here to premiere this week as well on April 18, following the trodden steps ofGu Kyo-hwan (Parasyte – The Grey) in the latest video teaser. But with writer Park Hae-young (My Liberation Notes, My Ajusshi) penning the scripts, I trust that we’re strapped in for an uplifting and thoughtful journey, alongside Go Yoon-jung (Can This Love Be Translated), Oh Jung-se (Tempest), Kang Mal-geum (Surely Tomorrow), as well as Park Hae-joon (Tempest). [Newsen]
    3. Speaking of JTBC, Sacred Jewel has kicked off promos with a bundle of new stills, giving us our first peek at the Goryeo-era sageuk leads: Ahn Bo-hyun (Spring Fever), Lee Sung-min (Nine Puzzles), and Soo-hyun (Gyeongseong Creature 2), in addition to Ha Yoon-kyung (Undercover Miss Hong), and Yoon Kyun-sang (Law and the City). Premiering first at the Cannes International Series Festival this month, the period action will release for the wider audience later in 2026 and will be streaming internationally on Amazon Prime.
