Mpreg, short for “male pregnancy,” is a fictional trope and subgenre where male characters become pregnant and give birth. It’s common in fanfiction, especially in the “omegaverse” where, in addition to the biological sex traits humans have, an additional secondary sex trait is given. These secondary sex traits — Alpha, Beta, and Omega—have different attributes when it comes to reproduction and behaviors, including reproduction cycles (“heats” and “ruts”) and scent (pheromones).
