Weaving a tale of The Facade of Love (previously Love Affair) on Netflix, promos have officially launched with the first script reading, where the melodrama has strung up our four leads: Lee Dong-wook (The Nice Guy), Jeon So-ni (As You Stood By), Jung Yumi (Love Your Enemy), and Lee Jong-won (You and Everything Else).
Here, our torn hero is Kim Ji-hoon (Lee Dong-wook), a man who has been living a perfectly ordinary and peaceful life. What more could he ask for, after all, when he has a good corporate job as well as a happy marriage. But everything in his life is thrown off kilter when Ji-hoon has a chance encounter while traveling, leading to a dream-like day spent together with someone who isn’t his wife.
Said woman is Gong Hoo-kyung (Jeon So-ni), an architect who had been on her way to Spain. But despite knowing that it’s wrong, both Ji-hoon and Hoo-kyung can’t help but continue to feel drawn to one another. This one fateful day abroad thus brews a terrible storm back home when they both return to South Korea.
Needless to say, Ji-hoon’s wife and influencer Lee Sun-hee (Jung Yumi) is troubled when she’s confronted by the shocking truth that her husband has been having an affair. However, that’s not all because Hoo-kyung has been cheating on her end as well. And her boyfriend is Lee Dae-hee (Lee Jong-won), who just so happens to be Sun-hee’s younger brother.
Production for Netflix’s The Facade of Love is in the early days of filming, with PD Mo Wan-il (The Frog, A Couple’s World) at the helm and scripts penned by Ha Soo-jin (The Matchmakers).
