A fan’s unexpected taxi ride is going viral after she realized the driver was actually a rookie idol’s father. The fan shared that after landing at Gimpo Airport, she took a taxi home, only to later discover the driver was the father of ALPHA DRIVE ONE’s Lee Sangwon.

At first, she didn’t think much of it, only noting that the driver seemed like he must have been handsome when he was younger. During the ride, he tried to make conversation and casually asked if they liked BTS. When the fan jokingly said no, he proudly revealed that his son is also an idol who recently debuted. He later revealed who his son was.
“Oh my god, i took a taxi home from gimpo airport and happened to get into Lee Sangwon’s father’s taxi. While putting my luggage in before getting in, I could vaguely tell that the driver must have been a handsome guy when he was young. I was truly stunned. Since the ride was quite long, he kept trying to chat with us. He asked if we liked BTS, but since we were exhausted after finishing a few days of filming, we didn’t really want to talk much. We jokingly said we weren’t interested. Then, he very proudly said that his son is also an idol and debuted in ALPHA DRIVE ONE. I casually asked, ‘Is that the group with Lee Sangwon?‘ He replied yes and I asked which member was his son. He said it was Sangwon. I finally opened my eyes wide and looked at him again, they look exactly the same.”
Still unsure, she later searched online and confirmed that Lee Sangwon’s father is indeed a taxi driver, making the encounter even more shocking. As the conversation continued, the driver happily talked about his son, beaming with pride as the fans praised Sangwon’s visuals.
“At first i thought he might be joking, so i searched on Red Note and it turned out Sangwon’s father really is a taxi driver. At that point, I totally believed it. We told him that Lee Sangwon is incredibly handsome. Seeing how surprised we were, he looked so happy and extremely, extremely proud haha.”
The fan described how his phone was filled with photos of Sangwon, and how visibly happy he was whenever his son was mentioned. Despite his pride, she noted that he remained humble, only bringing it up casually during conversation.
By the end of the ride, the fan promised to support Sangwon, making the driver even more grateful. The wholesome story has since spread online, with many touched by the K-Drama moment.
