A script book based on the show will be sold.

Perfect Crown will ultimately revise its script book following controversy over historical distortion. On May 16, official publisher Open House stated through its social media that they will be taking the recent historical discrepancy that appeared in the script seriously.

“We are currently discussing with the production team regarding certain ceremonial expressions that were officially announced by the Perfect Crown production team as requiring revisions. The publisher takes this issue seriously, and we plan to provide separate guidance to readers who pre-ordered the first edition and reflect revisions of the expressions in future productions.”

They added that for those who had already made their purchase and or received the item, they will receive corrected PDFs and more.

“Since production and shipping of the first edition have already progressed, the publisher will do its best to minimize inconvenience to readers through notifications regarding corrections and follow-up measures.”

Accordingly, they plan to provide first-edition purchasers with measures including PDF corrected versions and physical correction stickers.

Previously, the show became controversial over a scene during Grand Prince Ian’s (played by Byeon Woo Seok) enthronement ceremony where people shouted “Cheonse” (“Long live for a thousand years”). This expression is used when subordinate to an imperial nation rather than “Manse” (“Long live for ten thousand years”), which symbolizes an independent sovereign nation.

Additionally, controversy arose because Grand Prince Ian wore Guryumyeongwan (nine-bead ceremonial headwear worn by imperial officials) instead of the emperor’s Sibimyeollyugwan (twelve-bead ceremonial crown) during the enthronement ceremony.

Because of this, Perfect Crown received public criticism over excessive historical reduction or distortion due to its fictional setting in which events such as the Japanese colonial period and the Korean War were omitted.

In response, netizens have gotten all fired up, declaring that they should destroy the book rather than make corrections.

    • Don’t even think of selling rubbish and just destroy them.
    • Corrections LOL.
    • That’s not the only problem. What are they doing?
    • We don’t need corrections, just destroy it. I feel terrible that such a drama even exists.
    • It was a drama people were looking forward to. They prepared it for a year, so what’s up with this? Makes me angry.
    • Corrections? LOL just destroy it.
