A Korean star has declared that she will no longer undergo plastic surgery for a surprising reason.
On September 5th, the JTBC variety show Knowing Bros featured guests Han Seok Joon, Jang Young Ran, Shin Gi Ru, and Hwang Jae Gyun.
On the broadcast, Jang Young Ran revealed that although she prides herself on being an “A-grade mom,” her children have complaints about her. She said, “The kids tell me to stop getting plastic surgery.”
She also candidly discussed the procedures she’s had. She stated, “I had double eyelid surgery three times and one lower eye lift, and then nothing else,” emphasizing that she hasn’t had as many surgeries as people might think.
The issue was that her children witnessed the entire recovery process.
Jang Young Ran said, “The kids saw me swollen and the stitches, and they reacted like, ‘Mom, it’s scary. It looks like your eyebrows and eyes might stick together.’”
Ultimately, her children’s remarks moved her. She declared, “So, plastic surgery is banned for the sake of the children,” vowing not to have any more surgeries.
Her multiple eye surgeries were rooted in a long-held complex. She recalled being nicknamed “buttonhole” and “shrimp princess” during her school years because of her small eyes.
Jang Young Ran explained, “I was so self-conscious about my small eyes during school, which led me to start plastic surgery.”
She also directly addressed rumors about having had six eye surgeries in the past. She said her first double eyelid surgery was at an ophthalmologist’s clinic, but the results were uneven, so she had a revision surgery that included medial and lateral epicanthoplasty.
Including the lower eye lift, she emphasized, “This is the fourth surgery. Please don’t misunderstand. Correct it to four times. I only had surgery on my eyes.”
Having struggled with appearance complexes since school and undergoing several surgeries, Jang Young Ran’s decision to ban further plastic surgery following her children’s candid reactions drew attention.
