Singer and actor Rain expressed frustration while addressing allegations about his wife Kim Tae Hee shouldering all the childcare alone.
On the 20th, cable channel tvN‘s variety show You Quiz on the Block released a preview video featuring Rain.
Regarding his reunion with Yoo Jae Seok, with whom he worked in the group SSAK3, Rain said, “When I went to see hyung, it felt like ‘I’m on my way now,’ like filming a movie,” adding, “It’s one of two things. Either he’ll be harsh on me today or he’ll praise me. I’m excited but nervous,” which made people laugh.
Then Yoo Jae Seok, smiling, asked if Rain had watched the episode his wife Kim Tae Hee appeared in earlier. Rain replied, “I did. I need to mention it. I was holding her in bed watching it together. ‘She did so well.’ But then there’s more after that,” he began.
Rain explained, “She appeared but unintentionally, at the ending when she talked about the stress of parenting, covered her mouth, and her eyes welled up with tears, that’s when the scene cut,” drawing attention.
He revealed, “I got a lot of calls from many people,” adding, “They said, ‘Do you not help with childcare at home?’ But that’s not true… These days, in short clips showing teary eyes, people ask, ‘Why don’t you help?’ I handle school drop-offs and pick-ups—I have my role too,” he clarified.
Yoo Jae Seok then said, “If you only see that, it might seem like all the difficulties of parenting fall solely on Kim Tae Hee.” Rain agreed, “That’s true. She calls for her mom more than me.”
Yoo Jae Seok teased, “There are kids who call for their dad too,” and Rain, flustered, said, “I watch You Quiz every week, but it feels like I’m the only one getting roasted.” Yoo Jae Seok laughed and replied, “That’s true,” teasing him again to everyone’s amusement.
