Recently, the idol appeared as a guest on the SBS variety show No, But Seriously! and shared an anecdote from her trainee days that left the panelists shocked.
Comedian Lee Su Ji brought it up first, commending Tsuki’s diligence in learning Korean. She revealed that when the young idol moved to Korea from Japan, she reportedly cut off all contact with her mother for six months simply to focus on mastering Korean.
Tak Jae Hoon was so astonished by this revelation that he even refused to believe it at first. Tsuki then shared more details, explaining that she was desperate to learn Korean because without the language, she couldn’t do anything as a trainee. From holding conversations to understanding lessons, her day-to-day life was impossible to move forward without understanding the language of the land. “I didn’t even know when I was supposed to eat,” she mentioned, recalling that struggle period.
It was her desperation to survive as a trainee in Korea that led her to ask her mother to temporarily cut off contact while she focused on studying Korean.
I told my mom, ‘I feel like I won’t be able to survive here unless I really buckle down and study Korean. Please wait until I reach out to you first,’ and then I just kept studying.

When Tak Jae Hoon asked whether either of her parents spoke Korean, Tsuki said none did. However, thanks to her rigorous studying, her brain has now been rewired to imagine her mother speaking Korean in her dreams. Lee Su Ji also praised Tsuki’s mastery of the language, adding that she has not only aced the standard dialect but also picked up various regional dialects.
While this story reflected Tsuki’s grit and dedication as a young teenager to fulfill her dream, it has also left many netizens disturbed. On social media, many raised questions about why Tsuki’s parents accepted this arrangement when it could have easily proven to be a dangerous situation for a 13-year-old living alone in a different country. However, Tsuki herself has received high praise for her refusal to give up.
