A Korean actor candidly confessed about his actual dating style, revealing whether he’d make his relationship public or not.
On the morning of September 9th, an interview was conducted at a cafe in Seoul with actor Kang Hoon, following the conclusion of tvN’s Monday-Tuesday drama My Bias, My Boss.
Having portrayed an office romance with Nam Da Reum (played by Kim Hye Jun) in the drama, he said, “Once Da Reum and I got together, I thought it was impossible not to show it even if we tried to hide it. I decided, ‘Let’s just be open about it.’ If both of us hid it, the show wouldn’t be fun. I haven’t worked in an office before, so I referred to how other dramas have portrayed office relationships.”
Regarding the similarity between himself and his character Kang Ha Gi, Kang Hoon said, “Actually, I am neither clumsy nor particularly cold. I think I’m somewhere in the middle, maybe about 50%. And when it comes to love, I don’t think I behave the way Ha Gi does.”
He also shared about his real dating style, saying, “I think I can keep my relationships thoroughly hidden. Since my job is public, I have confidence in being able to conceal myself well. I usually cover myself up when I go out. People recognize me, but many don’t approach me.”
He added, “Rather than preferring secret relationships, I think I would ask my partner what they think. But honestly, I don’t think I have a strong opinion myself. I’d probably ask for their views.”
Furthermore, Kang Hoon talked about his competitive relationship with Cha Woo Min, who appear as a friend in the drama. He revealed that in reality, he would choose love over friendship.
He continued, “I thought a lot about this, and I believe love is the most important. If a friend left because of love, then they weren’t really close friends. I choose love over friendship. And if it’s the same person we like, that would be competition. It might cause a slight crack in the friendship, but I think time can heal that. I haven’t had such experience because my friends have different tastes.“
