Kim Dae-myung becomes foe to The Husband Namgoong Min

KBS has officially announced that The Husband (working title, previously The Culmination of Marriage) is lined up on this year’s summer schedule, with Namgoong Min (Our Movie), Kim Dae-myung (The Art of Negotiation), Lee Seol (Our Movie), and Lee Sang-hee (The Price of Confession) headlining the suspense and crime-thriller.

The title character is Kang Tae-joo (Namgoong Min), a hospital director and neurosurgeon whose marriage has been on the rocks for quite some time. After much deliberation, he finally conveys his intentions to divorce. But in a cruel twist of fate, his not-yet-ex-wife is kidnapped the very next day and Tae-joo must puts his own life at risk in order to save her before it’s too late.

First, though, Tae-joo has to uncover the culprit and this story’s two-faced villain is Noh Man-hee (Kim Dae-myung). On the surface, Man-hee comes across as a courteous and warm-hearted soul who runs an after-school academy with a highly-rated reputation. But Man-hee’s gentle smiles conceal the true cold nature within.

The wife in question is Go Se-yoon (Lee Seol), who is a board member at the same hospital where Tae-joo works. Perhaps, she and her husband were once madly in love. But in recent days, Se-yoon has been feeling torn between affection and resentment.

Adding to the mystery, Se-yoon is puzzled by Kim Kyung-ae (Lee Sang-hee) as well, who suddenly appeared one day and became a friend in Se-yoon’s troubled life. Although Kyung-ae seems to be perfectly amiable and kind, Se-yoon can’t shake the niggling suspicion that there’s something about Kyung-ae that feels off.

Weaving its tale over weekends, beginning on July 4, production for KBS’s The Husband has scripts by Jung Jae-ha alongside co-directing by PD Kim Min-tae and PD Kim Jung-hyun (Hyper Knife). The latter PD Kim has also worked with Namgoong Min previously on tvN’s 2020 series, Awaken.
