A part of fan service that many enjoy is the skinship or other interactions between members of the same group. While many groups are naturally close and share this kind of content anyway, fan events sometimes offer more opportunities for moments.

However, recently, a moment between two male idols was interrupted, sparking outrage.

ZEROBASEONE recently returned with “Top 5,” following the group’s line-up changes.

As a part of their promotions, the group has held many fan events including fansigns, where they have been able to see supporters face to face. On June 10th, one such event took place, and after the signing the group spent time playing around with props given by fans.

Sung Hanbin and Taerae put on flower crowns, matching white blazers and held bouquets before posing together.

However, one of the staff got Hanbin’s attention, and based on the idol’s response, instructed them to remove what they were wearing.

Online, it was assumed that because this happened because it was miming a gay marriage with both acting as grooms and the event, presumably in China, would fall under the country’s censorship laws.

    No, what the hell—seriously?!
They got broken up by security because the two of them aren’t allowed to get married… (probably because of the country’s laws).

Many chimed in on the situation, with some finding their reactions to be comical.

The staff telling hanbin they can’t pose and take pics as 2 grooms probably because korea doesn’t approve gay marriage is killing me LMAO their expression makes this even funnier 😭😭 https://t.co/Pp3XHIIFqB

Others felt it was unfunny, and actually highlighted the issues that queer individuals actually face.

this is so unfunny idk. during pride month too like 😭 https://t.co/r08QqUVKEI

this is sad for several reasons, but mostly because the reason is chinese laws. hoping for a brighter future for chinese queer people https://t.co/S1ce9jgyGV
