Recently, the Chinese idol-actor Chen Linong was involved in controversies related to his work.

A clip appearing to be from behind the scenes of The Long Life, which stars Chen and actress Zhang Yifan. In the video, taken from an angle above the actors and from a distance, Chen appears to suddenly grab and lift Zhang’s breast, leading her to hit him.

The video quickly went viral, with the phrase “What is Chen Linong doing?” trending on Weibo.
However, it was quickly clarified that the video had been misconstrued and due to the angle, was not what it seemed. A longer clip, showing the two actors kissing was shared, clarifying that it was entirely professional.

Additionally, Chen’s studio released a statement alleging that certain online users intentionally used the video to spread false information, post defamatory comments, and fuel harmful speculation surrounding the artist. According to the statement, these actions have caused significant damage to Chen Linong’s reputation and public image.
In response, the studio has reportedly engaged legal counsel to gather evidence and take legal action against individuals and accounts accused of disseminating false claims and defamatory content.
Chen initially rose to fame as a member of the idol group Nine Percent before making his solo debut. He has also since made his acting debut in the 2020 film Red Fox Scholar.
