A K-Pop idol candidly shared his thoughts on retiring from the entertainment industry, attracting attention.
On the 30th, a video titled “JOHNNY SAYS It All For DAWN | EP.146 DAWN & JOHNNY” was released on the YouTube channel TEO.
In the video, Jang Do Yeon asked about the meaning behind the stage name DAWN, and DAWN, Pentagon member-turned-soloist, revealed the difficulties he had faced because of his name.
He said, “There was a time I thought I had named myself poorly. When I searched ‘DAWN’ on portals, the word appeared so frequently that my name was quickly pushed down,” adding with a smile, “I wondered how I could get myself known.”
However, his thoughts changed over time. DAWN calmly shared, “Later on, I actually liked it. (The articles) disappear quickly,” and added, “If I retire from the entertainment industry, I want to be forgotten quickly.”
He then surprised everyone by confessing, “I have retirement plans,” and “I’m considering doing it within five years.”
When Jang Do Yeon was surprised by the sudden retirement plan, DAWN added his conviction. He revealed that rather than clinging to fame for a long time, he dreams of living a life where he naturally fades from the public’s memory after his activities end, drawing attention.
