A famous Korean transgender star has deleted the portion of her video that sparked controversy over “sexual harassment trivialization.”
The controversy over trivializing menstrual cramps started on Pungja’s personal YouTube channel. While doing a mukbang with Shin Gi Ru, Shin Gi Ru asked, “Why are you so full? What’s with that reaction?” Pungja responded with “menstrual cramps, menstrual cramps,” making a remark that trivialized menstrual pain, which caused backlash.
At the time, when Shin Gi Ru said, “I understand transgender people don’t get their periods,” Pungja spat out the makgeolli she was drinking and laughed loudly, also chuckling while saying, “I say stupid things and get it back tenfold.”
Pungja later reedited the scene into a short clip and uploaded it to her personal social media account, but quietly deleted it after the controversy arose.
By the afternoon of July 14th, the original video was still posted on Pungja’s personal YouTube channel. However, the current video differs from the original version uploaded on the 6th. Pungja removed the part where she made the comment about menstrual cramps.
Despite receiving criticism for trivializing menstrual pain for several days, she deleted the segment without issuing an apology.
