Gong Hyo-jin moonlights as A Bona Fide Killer
by tccolb
It’s a precarious juggling act when you’re a mom, wife, and daughter-in-law, as well as A Bona Fide Killer in MBC’s upcoming thriller and webtoon-adaptation. The latest promos thus has our titular heroine Gong Hyo-jin (When the Stars Gossip) in a bind as she struggles to keep up, while also hiding secrets from her journalist husband Jung Joon-won (Resident Playbook) and police detective Lee Sang-yi (The Legend of Kitchen Soldier).
Yoo Bo-na’s (Gong Hyo-jin) situation is of course particular – being an infamous sniper known as Kingfisher – but it’s not unlike other working parents who have to shuffle their schedules. This means her next kill has to be done in broad daylight, a somewhat risky move, and she explains to the boss Sung Dong-il (We Are All Trying Here) that she has to pick up her daughter – played by Hwang Bom-yi (See You at Work Tomorrow).
Thankfully, Kwon Tae-sung (Jung Joon-won) is pulling his weight as well. And despite the disapproval of his conservative mother Cha Mi-kyung (Spooky in Love) and sisters, Tae-sung is fiercely standing by Bo-na’s side and angrily demands that they show respect to his wife. However, as a truth-seeking journalist, Tae-sung’s loyalty might be tested if and/or when he discovers Bo-na’s lies.
The potential breach of trust extends to cop Lee Dong-jin (Lee Sang-yi), who is Tae-sung’s best friend and considers Bo-na to be family. And it just so happens that Dong-jin and his teammate Choi Woo-sung (Can This Love Be Translated) have been chasing Kingfisher’s tail, even if Bo-na is on the side of justice in her own way. It’s just that she has chosen a vigilante path to target the baddies who outskirt the law.
Directed by PD Yoon Jong-ho (Lovely Runner) with Kim Eun-hee (Ghost Doctor) writing, MBC’s A Bona Fide Killer will be premiering on July 31 in the weekend slot.
