Hyun Bin and Jung Woo-sung are Made in Korea 2

After beginning its shadowy tale in 1970 South Korea, Disney+’s period-noir Made in Korea 2 jumps ahead to 9 years later, where we re-meet Hyun Bin (Crash Landing on You), Jung Woo-sung (Tell Me That You Love Me), and Woo Do-hwan (Bloodhounds 2) in the sequel’s first poster and video teaser set.
Here, Baek Ki-tae (Hyun Bin) has risen to the seat that he had long been scheming to make his own, taking up a stately desk in the presidential office as the now department head of the KCIA (Korean Central Intelligence Agency). He explains how one moment’s decision can change the course of history and we catch a glimpse of what I assume is the Park Chung-hee assassination in 1979.
Power is certainly changing hands, though, in many parts of our story with Won Ji-ahn (Surely Tomorrow) taking over the yakuza throne, after the death of boss Lily Franky (Who Saw the Peacock Dance in the Jungle). But while she is an ally and business partner, Ki-tae has been making many enemies as well and he finds himself at odds with his younger brother Baek Ki-hyun (Woo Do-hwan).
Military groups are also shown gaining influence over the sequence (ushering the way for Chun Doo-hwan’s regime) and will likely complicate how Seo Eun-soo (Chief Detective 1958), Jung Sung-il (Unmasked), and Noh Jae-won (If Wishes Could Kill) factor into Season 2’s story, among other major characters. But the biggest shock for Ki-tae, of course, is the return of prosecutor Jang Gun-young (Jung Woo-sung).
Disney+’s Made in Korea 2 will be coming to our screens sometime in September. Production for the second season continues under filmmaker Woo Min-ho (Harbin), alongside A Normal Family screenwriters, Park Eun-gyo (Mother) and Park Joon-seok.
