Entertainment Agency Accused Of Disbanding Group In Order To Manage A New One

DSP Media is facing backlash from K-Pop fans following news that the company will reportedly take over management duties for OH MY GIRL, with the timing drawing particular attention due to KARD‘s disbandment.

OH MY GIRL had been managed by WM Entertainment, but following corporate restructuring, DSP Media is reportedly set to handle the group’s management.

The development immediately raised eyebrows among KARD fans. As one of DSP Media’s most recognizable active groups, KARD had been with the company since their pre-debut activities in 2016.

With news concerning KARD’s future emerging around the same period as DSP’s involvement with OH MY GIRL, some fans accused the agency of effectively abandoning one established group to focus its resources on another.

Wait what???? Is this why DSP abandoned Kard?
My condolences to oh My girl fans… DSP is the worst thing that can exist https://t.co/zr5CcqzPbs

Another was similarly shocked by the timing.

girl….. DSP left KARD in the dust just to swallow OH MY GIRL….. https://t.co/9dsLDS0mwp

However, other fans quickly pointed out that the situation is more complicated than DSP simply choosing OH MY GIRL over KARD.

for those confused RBW acquired WM ent (who have oh my girl and xlov) back in april and this was probably their restructuring decision.

bm said this was going to be the last year for the kard members in the same company back in march. https://t.co/N8YBStiHkB

The changes reportedly come amid restructuring involving RBW, the parent company connected to both agencies. RBW acquired WM Entertainment, which houses artists including OH MY GIRL and XLOV, in April.

There were also signs that KARD’s members were already preparing to go their separate ways professionally before the latest OH MY GIRL development. Back in March, BM reportedly told fans that this would likely be the final year in which all of KARD’s members remained under the same company.

Still, the unfortunate timing has left longtime KARD fans frustrated, particularly given years of complaints surrounding DSP’s management of the group.
