Now, his NCT 127 bandmates have shared more details about the contract renewal discussions that took place before their decisions were made in an interview with Billboard.
Johnny explained that the members had been discussing their futures for a long time before the contract decisions were finalized. He emphasized that the members did not make their decisions within just a few months.
The decisions that everybody made weren’t made in a few months. It really did take a lot of time and effort and conversation with each other to come upon the conclusion we came upon.

Taeyong revealed that the members had actually started talking about their futures more than two years ago, before some of them began their mandatory military service.
At the beginning, before I went to the military, we all got together and talked about it. I guess each of us had a direction we were thinking about, and we each wanted different things, so I think it was unavoidable that we took a longer time to think about it.

The comments provide more context regarding Mark’s departure and suggest that the members had ample time to consider their individual futures before making their decisions.
While the members eventually reached an agreement about their futures, Taeyong admitted that the outcome was not necessarily perfect for everyone.
