T.O.P’s Agency Issues Official Statement Following Closure Of 20-Year Fansite Amid Controversy

Former BIGBANG member, singer, and actor T.O.P’s fansite of 20 years has announced it will cease operations, while his agency has pledged to improve communication with fans.

Earlier, the fansite CHOIDOT declared it would end about 20 years of activity since August 24, 2006.

The admin criticized T.O.P and his agency for ignoring fans’ opinions and failing to show accountability, saying it was no longer feasible to maintain the site.

They emphasized that album releases and fan support are not a one-sided relationship. As fans wait for and support the artist’s activities, the agency and artist should also listen to the fans’ voices. They criticized the tendency to accept only pleasing comments rather than truly accepting fan feedback.

Issues with the agency’s fan communication system were also raised. The fansite claimed that during the release of T.O.P’s solo album Another Dimension, the expected stages and proactive communication with fans were lacking.

Since official inquiry channels, communities, and emails were not provided, the fansite had to handle many practical tasks, including responding to overseas fans. They also released email exchanges with agency officials related to this matter.

The recently canceled fan exhibition was also mentioned as a source of conflict. The fansite said they had prepared an exhibition for about 300 people, but participation fell short of expectations, increasing the site management’s financial burden, ultimately leading to cancellation.

Disappointment In T.O.P And Nana’s Relationship Leads To Mass Cancellations

The timing of the exhibition’s cancellation coincided with news of T.O.P’s relationship with actress Nana, leading to interpretations that fan departures were the cause.

The admin explained that even if some fans knew about the relationship, they chose not to publicly discuss it out of respect for privacy. They rebutted interpretations that attributed the exhibition cancellation and site closure solely to fan disappointment over the dating news as distorting the issue’s essence.

They also claimed that although they informed the agency of the exhibition cancellation, they did not feel a meaningful response, citing criticism over including reservation rates in the announcement instead of resolving the problem. Ultimately, disappointment with the operating system that depended on fans’ voluntary efforts and the lack of communication were the reasons for deciding to end operations.

Finally, the fansite stated that fans’ support and dedication should not be used only when necessary and closed the chapter on their 20 years of activity.

In response, T.O.P’s agency, TOPSPOT Pictures, posted an apology to fans on its official social media account on October 10th.

The agency stated, “First, we sincerely thank all the fans who have cherished and supported T.O.P for a long time,” adding, “We are taking the recent feedback from fans seriously.”

They continued, “We deeply apologize to the fans who have waited all this time that news of activities and communication have not reached you sufficiently, causing disappointment and regret.”

The agency also promised to reflect fans’ opinions in the artist’s activities and overall management. “From now on, we will listen more closely to the opinions you send and actively apply them to the artist’s activities and overall operations,” they said. “We will review the way we communicate with fans and provide information through official channels as soon as improvement plans are established.”

Meanwhile, T.O.P gained popularity as a BIGBANG member and later expanded his career as an actor. Recently, he made headlines by confirming his relationship with actress Nana. Attention is focused on whether the agency’s apology and promise to improve communication will help regain fans’ trust.
