Actor Im Siwan, who is also a member of the boy group ZE:A, recently opened up about the hardships of the earlier years of his life.
Siwan recently appeared as a guest on the popular YouTube talk show, Salon Drip 2, candidly talking about his career both as a singer and an actor. He also reflected on the hardships he endured during his idol days with ZE:A.

“When I meet the members,” he shared, “we talk about our dorm life,” explaining that those times were extremely difficult for him. Siwan revealed that during the very early years, the ZE:A members shared a very small room with other trainees. Consequently, a total of ten of them had to live together in one single room. “It was like a game of Tetris,” he added, “we’d be stacked like this.”
Siwan continued, “So when someone comes home late, they’d step on someone sleeping.” However, all of them were accommodating to one another, even when they got stepped on. He then gave a rough estimate of how small their dorm was, saying that the entire house was as big as the room they were shooting inside. Their room was about half the size of the space. When the MC asked how long they lived like that, the singer revealed it went on for at least a year.
Even after his debut, his hardships didn’t disappear overnight. He called it the most discouraging time of his life. Siwan recalled that right after debuting, he would often have late-night schedules and make it to the dorm late, thinking he could get some sleep. “But the alarm of the member who had to get up first was ringing when I came in,” he recalled, adding, “that meant I had to get out soon too.” Siwan confessed, “That’s when I felt, ‘Is this how life is going to be?’”
