A post recently went viral on reddit of a sign posted at a Korean cafe.
A foreign tourist posted a picture showing the cafe’s sign for customers to speak in Korean or use a translation app.
The post gained attention online where Korean netizens reacted.
A complaint post about Twosome Place uploaded on Reddit by a foreigner.
Basically, it means that since this is Korea, people should not use English and should either learn Korean or use a translation app as a matter of basic courtesy.
It seems there were many foreigners who complained due to order mistakes caused by language barriers, etc.
The post quickly gained hundreds of comments and netizens agreed completely that people should speak the country’s official language or at least try to by using a translation app.
- “Isn’t that obvious? Why are you carrying a smartphone then?”
- “Yeah, make a bit of effort, seriously.”
- “It’s ridiculous to come to someone else’s country and not even have the intention to communicate in that country’s language lol.”
- “That’s only natural.”
- “They’re not even from English-speaking countries, but at least the ones who try using English are decent. Some people just ask questions in their own language and stare blankly—what are we supposed to do?”
- “Oh, I like this attitude. This is how it should be.”
