It’s only been five years since the first season of Yumi’s Cells aired in 2021 but it feels twice that long honestly. The drama did a great job of adapting the webtoon and also managed the messiness of love and breakups through two seasons of fairly realistic and happy/sad emotional beats. But the big break between season 2 and the upcoming season 3 (the final arc) did take the air out of what was a ratcheting up story and now here we are, in 2026 and finally season 3 is arriving with same female lead Kim Go Eun and rising actor Kim Jae Won as the male lead. He does look like the character from the webtoon but she is saddled with one of the worst haircuts I’ve seen in K-drama land and I’ve seen plenty, apparently it’s due to her shaving her head for a previous role so this is the reality the drama has to deal with so instead of a wig the production is just going with however much hair has grown out for her lol. I love her so much so I’ll just focus on the story and her sure to be on point acting when it airs later this year on TVING. All gripes aside, I am thrilled to have a project actually conclude properly instead of leaving viewers perpetually in a lurch.
