HYBE Girl Group Member Raises Concerns With Alleged “Eating Disorder” Habits

A member of a HYBE girl group is facing growing concern online after comments she made about dieting and food habits resurfaced among fans.

Recently, ILLIT‘s Wonhee spoke candidly about her eating habits, explaining that she can’t eat heavy foods due to strict dieting. However, what particularly caught netizens’ attention was her confession that she always carries Buldak Carbonara cup noodles in her bag.

According to Wonhee, she doesn’t eat the noodles, but simply having them with her makes her feel reassured and motivated.

Wonhee: “I can’t eat it, but just having it with me helps satisfy me. I used to see Yunah unnie pack snacks in her bag, but she’d never eat it. I wondered why she did that, but now I can relate.”

Yunah: “It does help a lot when you’re trying to stay on a diet.”

While some fans interpreted the habit as relatable or harmless, others voiced unease, saying the behavior reminded them of “ED hoarding” — a term used online to describe when people restrict food intake but keep certain “forbidden” or high-calorie foods nearby for emotional comfort rather than consumption.

Others felt like they could relate.

It is only right to note that no diagnosis should be assumed, with this concern only coming from patterns commonly discussed in eating-disorder recovery spaces rather than from Wonhee herself.

The situation has reignited conversations about idol diet culture, particularly for young female idols debuting under major companies like HYBE. Many fans stressed that comments like these reflect systemic pressure, not individual fault.

Wonhee has recently gained attention for her weight loss along with the group’s latest comeback for “NOT CUTE ANYMORE.”
