    She almost went undetected.

A series of incidents has occurred in which men were found dead at lodging facilities in Seoul’s Gangbuk District. Police have apprehended a woman in her 20s, hereon identified as A, who allegedly gave the deceased men suspicious drinks. One man who survived after drinking a beverage given by A reportedly told police that he had been in a romantic relationship with her.

On February 11, the Seoul Gangbuk Police Station announced that they had urgently arrested A the day before on charges of injury resulting in death in connection with the consecutive deaths of men. She is accused of giving a drink containing an unknown substance to a man in his 20s at a motel in Suyu-dong, Gangbuk District, on February 9, leading to his death.

According to police, A entered the motel with the victim on that afternoon and left alone about two hours later. The two had reportedly met for the first time that day. Police discovered the man’s body on the bed in the motel room after responding to a report the following day.

Authorities later confirmed that A is also a suspect in another recent unexplained death. At the end of last month, police had been investigating a separate case in which a man was found dead at another lodging facility in Gangbuk District after drinking a beverage containing drugs.

In addition to the two fatal cases, police believe A is responsible for another incident in which a man lost consciousness after consuming a drink she gave him. The victim regained consciousness two days later and reported the incident to police, stating that he was A’s boyfriend.

It is reported that the drinks A provided contained large amounts of psychotropic substances. Police are considering applying murder charges, as they suspect she may have intended to kill the men. They are also reviewing the possibility of conducting a psychopathy assessment on her.

Police plan to first investigate A’s motive before seeking a formal arrest warrant. A police official stated, “We have confirmed that both the death cases and the injury case were committed using the same method, and we are consolidating the cases for a full-scale investigation.”
