It’s Valentine’s Day, and while I remain hopeful, I’m skipping a romance watch this year to watch The Art of Sara with Lee Jun-hyuk! π₯° Four more eps to go!
βThe quirky, weird, and wonderful comedy Pegasus Market has just shown up on Tubi!!! Time for a rewatch!
βOur Universe: I liked the opening, but I liked week 2 even more! It feels old-school and has the cutest toddler ever! The ML still has a long way to go from calling his possessions his “babies” to caring for his nephew as his baby… I can’t wait to see it!
βSpring Fever: Watched the first couple of episodes and had a BLAST! ABH is dreamy as the huge “tough guy” (ha) with a heart of gold, and he’s also funny. I like the FL, too. The humor is making me giggle. As others have said, it also has heart, which makes it feel extra sweet.
Finished
IDOL I: What a delight! This was so much more thoughtfully written, and beautifully filmed, (and with a lovely instrumental score) than I expected! I had to recalibrate my expectations twice. First, because I hadn’t expected the introspective tone, and second, because I thought it would be a shallow romcom, but it turned into such a thoughtful character exploration. I love Kpop but try not to know too much about the industry, because it is terribly toxic, and the drama didn’t shy away from that. Even before he gets caught up in a murder, the ML is completely isolated, alienated, and alone in his life, stalked by sasaengs, used by his label, and without true allies who care for the human behind the idol. The FL is ruthlessly competent at her job and a secret fangirl who idolizes him from afar, but her fantasy of him is far from the real person. I loved both of them as characters – that she is competent and smart, and that he is soft-hearted. I really appreciated the theme of getting to know someone’s true self. It’s hard work and it takes time and trust to peel away our protective public personas to know the real person, complete with insecurities, doubts, and weaknesses, and I really liked their growth. The investigation was fascinating, including the prosecutor, who was very well written and layered. The writing was good, the directing was beautiful, the cinematography was beautiful (and let scenes have breathing space), and I also loved the instrumental OST (another collab with Park Sejun + 5Talent tracks!!). My first drama love of 2026!
