A beloved Korean actress revealed for the first time the shocking behind-the-scenes story of her “ultra-fast marriage and divorce.”
Recently, a video titled “[Exclusive] ‘I Wasn’t in My Right Mind’ Lee Seon Jeong’s Unprecedentedly Honest Talk Going Wild in Front of Shin Jung Hwan” was released on the YouTube channel Doctor Shin.
In the video, Shin Jung Hwan said, “2012 was an unforgettable year for Lee Seon Jeong,” and mentioned Lee Seon Jeong’s marriage to broadcaster LJ, saying, “I also found out about the marriage through the news.”
Lee Seon Jeong registered her marriage with LJ after just 45 days in 2012, but their marriage ended about two and a half months later.
Shin Jung Hwan said, “To us, it seemed like they had just gotten married a week before, and then the divorce news came out quickly,” and Lee Seon Jeong confessed, “Even now, I think, ‘Why did I do that back then?‘”
She continued, “It wasn’t a rushed marriage due to pregnancy. It was simply love,” and recalled, “At that time, he treated me so well. I think I was confused by that warmth.”
In particular, regarding what made her decide to register the marriage, she said, “I drank a lot the day before,” and added, “He gave me a crystal gift for the first time from a man. Seeing that, I thought, ‘This is the one.’”
However, the marriage didn’t last long. Lee Seon Jeong candidly admitted, “Sometimes you get divorced because you just don’t fit. Our minds didn’t match, and our bodies didn’t either.”
She added, “After breaking up, I was so stressed out that I exercised intensely like crazy. I kept going back and forth between working out and drinking,” and revealed, “Six months later, I developed panic disorder.”
She explained the serious condition at the time, saying, “I couldn’t go to crowded places and felt like I might collapse. I heard strange sounds, and I almost passed out even at the supermarket.”
She also said, “The hospital did an MRI and tests, but they said nothing was wrong,” recalling, “I could hear my heartbeat in my ears. My face would turn red, and I couldn’t breathe.”
Lee Seon Jeong confessed, “I regretted it a lot for five years. I kept wondering, ‘Why did I get married and end up like this?‘” and added, “In the end, I was the only one who lost out. Even now, I’m still working hard to overcome it myself.”
