In particular, one of the searches was about the meaning of Suga’s stage name.
While most know his name “Suga” to be short for “shooting guard,” he confessed that there was a real explanation behind his name, but it was too long to explain every time.
He confessed that the real meaning behind his name came from the American boxer Sugar Ray Leonard.

In June 2013, he revealed that because he was “very pale and my eyes tend to be cute, so Bang PD named me Suga so I can promote with a sweeter image.”
In December 2013, he revealed it came from his bright skin tone and pretty smile.
In May 2023, he stated that it was short for “shooting guard,” a basketball position.
Netizens didn’t know whether to laugh or cry, because they weren’t sure which one was real anymore.
