Originally titled “Body on Body,” the song was considerably more sensual, with lyrics evoking images of bodies overlapping. RM pointed out that most of the members are in their 30s now, so it isn’t as if they can’t do sexual songs, but he felt that putting out a highly sexual song at this moment in time without a clear reason wasn’t the right direction for BTS.
Instead, RM drew inspiration from “Hand in Hand,” the iconic theme song for the 1988 Seoul Olympics performed by Koreana. He reimagined the concept around holding onto each other’s bodies rather than simply joining hands, transforming it into something unifying and celebratory.
🐨: The song ‘Body to Body’ was originally supposed to be titled ‘Body on Body.’ If I remember correctly, it was a song with a very sexual nuance, like ‘I need somebody on body.’ You get the general vibe…bodies overlapping and all that. So it was a pretty sensual song.
