MBC‘s I Live Alone host Jun Hyun Moo‘s impromptu trip to Kazakhstan continues to stir controversy.
The controversy began with the episode aired on August 14th on I Live Alone.
In the episode, Jun Hyun Moo, unexpectedly given a one-night, two-day break, headed to Incheon International Airport without a set destination. He spotted Almaty, Kazakhstan, on the departure board and spontaneously bought a ticket to embark on the trip.
However, after the broadcast, doubts arose about the likelihood of suddenly deciding on an overseas shoot that requires multiple staff on the same day.
The controversy escalated when Almaty city’s official website introduced the episode, implying support from tourism authorities, fueling suspicions about prior planning and production assistance.
In response, the I Live Alone production team stepped forward, denying any filming support or sponsorship, stating, “There was no assistance or sponsorship related to the Kazakhstan trip,” and affirming that “Jun Hyun Moo’s trip to Kazakhstan was exactly as shown on the broadcast.”

Yet, new claims contradicting the production team’s statements reignited the controversy.
YouTuber Lee Jin Ho claimed on his channel on the 29th that the trip to Almaty was actually decided about a week before filming, and that flight tickets for Jun Hyun Moo and the staff were prepared in advance.
Though this remains only Lee Jin Ho’s assertion, the inconsistency with the production team’s “as shown on the broadcast” explanation has revived viewers’ doubts over the authenticity of the “impromptu trip.”
As the production team issued an official explanation, conflicting claims have emerged, spreading the backlash to Jun Hyun Moo’s personal social media.
Recently, Jun Hyun Moo’s social media account has been flooded with comments demanding clarification about the Kazakhstan trip featured on I Live Alone.
One netizen commented, “I was inspired by the spontaneous trip to give it a try, but learning it was actually a meticulously planned travel makes me feel truly betrayed. It feels like a huge deception.” This comment received nearly 400 likes, indicating significant agreement.
Other users responded with, “How could the staff have shot on an impromptu trip?” “I thought it was spontaneous the entire broadcast, but I’m disappointed,” and “Now I’m starting to doubt the entire show.”
Some even went as far as to call it a “scripted broadcast.” Comments questioning the production process grew sharper, targeting Jun Hyun Moo personally with remarks like, “I doubt if he really drove for the entire 10 hours round trip,” and “Is it necessary to lie just to get attention?”
Ultimately, the backlash has extended beyond the production team to Jun Hyun Moo himself. Comments demanding explanations or criticizing him continue to flood his social media, prolonging the aftershocks.
Currently, Jun Hyun Moo has not issued any separate statement regarding the Kazakhstan trip controversy.
