When an exciting, new show is announced, K-Drama fans eagerly add it to their watch lists. Unfortunately, these series fell flat for viewers in May.

    1. Perfect Crown

This Disney+ series takes place in an alternate universe Korea, where Korea has a monarchy. This romantic drama follows a contract marriage between a wealthy but disrespected chaebol CEO and a prince who has no real power.

Perfect Crown has become one of the most controversial and divisive K-Dramas of the year. Some viewers who dropped the series couldn’t get into the story, despite being fans of the lead actors.

    2. Sold Out On You

This Netflix romantic comedy follows a workaholic farmer/cosmetics CEO, whose life gets upended when a famous home shopping host–who suffers from severe insomnia–arrives in his peaceful village. She starts sticking her nose into his business, trying to get the white flower mushrooms he grows. Cue lots of bickering, but also healing, in his cozy romance.

Some viewers who disliked Perfect Crown also stopped watching this series, finding it “cringey” and “bland” among other things.

    3. In Your Radiant Season

If you love romance, melodrama, and fantasy, this new Disney+ K-Drama might be for you. It tells the story of a talented, grieving designer and an animator who lost his hearing and memory in a strange accident.

One viewer chose not to continue the series after hearing feedback about it from fellow viewers who found it “frustrating.”

    4. My Royal Nemesis

This Netflix historical K-Drama is a romantic comedy-drama about a notorious Joseon-era villainess who is poisoned and reincarnated into the body of a modern, struggling actress. She clashes with a ruthless chaebol heir known as a “monster of capitalism.”

One viewer made it to the third episode before shelving this popular series. The reasons? A lack of chemistry between the leads, the male lead’s murky characterization, and the one-note female lead.
