Broadcaster Hong Jin Kyung candidly opened up about her life and feelings after divorce.
On the 14th, a video titled “Eldest Sister Hong Jin Kyung Appears, Unpredictable Talk Begins lol” was uploaded on YouTube.
As a guest on the show, Hong Jin Kyung said, “I’m sorry to bring this up, but there has never been a time in my life as peaceful as now,” and added, “I stopped being greedy, and by lowering my expectations for happiness, I’ve actually grown more grateful.”
She went on to say, “People say they don’t understand happiness well, but setting your own standards is important. I set mine low.”
However, she also shared a realistic perspective: “If the outcome falls short of my standards, it still hurts.”
Hong Jin Kyung also talked about her relationships with juniors in a lighthearted way. Mentioning Jo Se Ho and Nam Chang Hee, she said, “We’re more like friends than seniors and juniors,” and revealed, “If I don’t look well, they call me up to three times a day,” which caught attention.
She also joked, “When I meet my younger colleagues, I don’t pay for drinks. I purposely try to avoid paying,” and “When we go to a second round, I even pretend to be asleep when it’s time to settle the bill,” making everyone laugh. She added, “People think I take care of my juniors, but actually, they spend their money to meet me,” revealing a surprising twist in their relationship.
Hong Jin Kyung married a businessman five years her senior in 2003 and has a daughter. Last year, she announced her divorce after 22 years of marriage.
