[Drama Chat] Drama highs and lows of 2026 (so far)

We’re somehow already halfway through 2026, so let’s take a beat to look back at what dramaland has delivered so far. This year’s offerings have run the gamut from captivating to underwhelming.
My 2026 highlights so far are the shows that held my attention from beginning to end, Undercover Miss Hong, The Scarecrow, The Art of Sarah, and We Are All Trying Here. They’re all very different dramas, but with each one, the writing and characters had me binge-watching or impatiently waiting for new episodes to drop.
My personal lowlights were the dramas that disappointed me by either not living up to expectations (sorry, Yumi’s Cells 3) or by just falling flat. I can’t pinpoint where No Tail to Tell or The Practical Guide to Love went wrong exactly, but it’s never a good sign when you’re just trudging through to plump your Bean Count.
Then there are the dramas that seem to have come out of nowhere to grab my heart. With The Legend of Kitchen Soldier, there’s an unexpected emotional depth that has me hooked as I watch Sung-jae navigate grief and military life. The Wonderfools is another pleasant 2026 surprise. I tuned in expecting an action comedy designed for mindless binge-watching. Then Park Eun-bin turned up as a nihilistic antiheroine and “mindless binge-watching” went out the window. The woman has range; her performance had me in tears one minute and cracking up the next.
