Ex-gangster Ji Sung runs for Apartment committee president

Production is well underway for JTBC’s new comedy caper Apartment, stirring up a crime-mystery to entangle said building’s residents in addition to the story’s four main leads: Ji Sung (The Judge Returns), Ha Yoon-kyung (Undercover Miss Hong), Park Byung-eun (Dear Hongrang), and Moon Sori (When Life Gives You Tangerines).
Our central hero is Park Hae-kang (Ji Sung), a notorious mob boss who has since turned a new leaf and now lives an ordinary life. However, trouble finds Hae-kang when he discovers that there’s something fishy about the building’s long-term maintenance funds. And he ends up running for president of the resident committee in order to investigate the corruption within the apartment complex administration.
Here enters Kang Ha-ri (Ha Yoon-kyung), who I expect will be stepping up to help Hae-kang on the legal side. Having been hired at a large law firm, Ha-ri’s family is under the impression that she has already reached success. But in reality, Ha-ri is a part-timer providing free legal advice at the service desk, and she has yet to achieve her dream of becoming a proper attorney at the firm.
Returning to our drama’s titular building, we meet the deceivingly charming Lee Chong-won (Park Byung-eun), a.k.a. the baddie who stands in opposition to Hae-kang. Taking up his residence on the upper penthouse floors, Chong-won is the shrewd and wealthy CEO of a construction company.
Last but not least, the neighborhood busybody Jang Sook-jin (Moon Sori) will be playing a key role as well because gossip is essentially intel. Friendly, chatty, and ever-understanding, there are very few in the building that Sook-jin hasn’t helped and she makes it her business to know everything that’s going on.
Coming to our screens sometime this July, the supporting cast is expected to include Baek Hyun-jin (The Scarecrow) and Jung Seung-gil (Phantom Lawyer) among other talents. Broadcasting on weekends following Reborn Rookie, JTBC’s upcoming Apartment has PD Jo Yong-won (Missing Child) directing with scripts penned by Kim Yoon-young (My Strange Hero).
