A fan is facing heavy criticism online after what many are calling a fat-shaming comment directed at TXT‘s Beomgyu.

The controversy began on Weverse after Beomgyu casually shared that he has been addicted to eating Dubai Chewy Cookies, a dessert reportedly containing around 500 calories per cookie. However, one fan responded by pointing out the exact calorie count of the snack, specifically telling Beomgyu how many calories it contains and how much exercise one has to do to burn it. One has to do 1500 pushups, 50 minutes of stair master, or 1200 squats.

Beomgyu then responded in a “heartbreaking” way.

If you think about things in this way, you won’t be able to eat anything at all. But it’s a good thing I ate only one bite today.

Screenshots of the exchange quickly spread across social media platform X, where many fans accused the commenter of being unnecessarily focused on his weight and diet.

why the fuck would you send this to him https://t.co/27XN5jYZIv

Many MOAs expressed disappointment, arguing that bringing up calorie counts to idols, especially unprompted, can come across as body policing.

just rolled my eyes to the back of my head why’d this person post this shit on Weverse. thank god he knows how ridiculous it is man but still, op posting smth saying food is something to be countered by a work out is crazy work https://t.co/kiDvX9WSwE

hope beomgyu knows that the people who send him shit like this are insane and that he should always make his belly happy by eating anything and everything https://t.co/pkdTvGnL6E

The incident has reignited discussions about diet culture within K-pop and the pressure idols face regarding their appearance. Many fans stressed that comments about calories, even if framed as “informational,” can contribute to unhealthy mindsets.

knowing that idols have problems with eating and you still decide to send this ??? https://t.co/9dltA9q4Tc

promoting this edtwt bullshit propaganda to him Oh yall are going straight to the 9th circle of hell and i’m dead serious too https://t.co/R3MUOxeMVK

As the debate continues, fans are rallying around Beomgyu, reminding others that food enjoyment shouldn’t be policed, especially over something as small as a cookie.
