Reasons to watch: Starting this weekend, Ahn Bo-hyun is reprising his role as a chaebol detective in Flex X Cop 2 from SBS. It’s been two years since we saw him pull out the stops, using cash, connections, and quick-witted charisma to solve crimes. But this season promises to go even bigger.
The setup this time is that Ahn has just finished training at the police academy (since he was thrown into the job before) and will be returning to his team at the violent crimes unit (with Season 1 teammates Kang Sang-joon and Kim Shin-bi returning as well). Now that he’s formally trained, the job should be even easier and more fun, right? Well, not if your devilish police academy instructor turns out to be your new boss. This is where Jung Eun-chae comes in, playing the nemesis who, in the end, will have great crime-fighting chemistry with Ahn.
Nemesis or not, the real villains are outside the force and the two will have to team up to take down the criminals. With a series of episodic antagonists, as well as the introduction of Yoo Seung-ho as the newest chaebol on the block – who’s also the latest villain – there’s a flood of cases for these cops to solve.
Fans of the first season will want to watch, since everything about Season 2 has gone grander, from the wide-ranging cast to the explosive action – and likely even Ahn’s egotistical charm. Even if Ahn Bo-hyun scared me to death the first time I saw him in Itaewon Class, I’ve been a forever fan since Yumi’s Cells. Here, the haircut, the suits, and especially the comedy are calling my name and prepping me for a weekend watch.
